Read Statuses
Goal: Understand what a status tells you about a record and how it can affect available actions.
Before you start
- Open a record or table that shows a status.
What a status tells you
A status shows the current stage of a record. It can tell you whether a record is still being prepared, waiting for review, approved, completed, closed, or blocked from further editing.
Some statuses are shown in tables. Others are shown on the detail page, in a status area, or in a workflow section.

How statuses affect actions
The current status can change what actions are available. For example:
- A record may be editable while it is being prepared.
- A record may become read-only after approval or closure.
- A next-step action may appear only when required information is complete.
- A review action may appear only after the record reaches a final or review-ready stage.
Result
You can use the status to understand where the record is in its process and why some actions may or may not be available.
