Use Reports

Goal: Understand when to open a report from a table and how reports differ from table exports.

Before you start

  • Open a table that shows Show in Report.
  • Make sure you have permission to view reports for that area.

What reports are for

Reports provide a formatted view of information. They are useful when you need a document-like output for review, sharing, printing, or management reporting.

Reports are different from table exports. A table export downloads the visible table data. A report may use a designed layout and may include information arranged differently from the table.

Open a report from a table

When reports are available for a table, use Show in Report and select the report you want to open.

IN-YACHT opens the report in a viewer so you can review the information before deciding what to do next.

When the report option is missing

If Show in Report is not visible, the table may not have reports configured, or you may not have permission to view them.

Use Export when you need table data. Use Show in Report when you need a formatted report view.

Result

You can tell when to use a report and when a table export is enough.
